Leonardo’s To-Do List
Leonardo da Vinci, The notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci filled notebooks for most of his life, and several thousand pages survive. Mixed together are designs for machines, studies of water, anatomy drawings and sketches for paintings, many written in his famous mirror-image script.
A notebook is a place where curiosity does not have to choose one subject.
Among his notes are lists of things to find out: how to square a triangle, how the city looks from above, and, memorably, to describe the tongue of the woodpecker. Nothing was too small or too strange to deserve a question.
The quality of your questions shapes the quality of your work.
